The Mets have a little bit of a problem on their hands, and I am noticing that plenty of people are freaking out about it, but I am here to bring you to a calm state. Mike Pelfrey had a rough outing today, allowing eight runs in his final spring training start, and even says he is not physically there yet, but I am not worried.
Pelfrey proved to me last year that he can be a solid force. He may have had a couple of moments, but overall, he was the Mets’ best pitcher besides Santana in 2008. He may have a rough patch in ’09, but fans need to remember that this is only his second full season in the big leagues. Hopefully he won’t go through a prolonged sophomore slump, but he may be getting it out of the way early. What better way to get it out of his system than in games that don’t count? Brilliant!
It’s not time to throw up the emergency flag yet folks, because there are still 162 games left to go!
