You got a problem with me?

Johan Santana is on a hot start to the 2009 season with a 0.71ERA. However, Mr. Santana has only gotten 3 runs of support during his first two starts and actually has a loss with a 0.71 ERA. The Mets bullpen blew 7 or more games last season when Johan gave them a lead to protect. It has got to be very discouraging as a pitcher to know that you are pitching absolutely lights out and still come out with a loss. I mean if your Johan, you have to think to yourself “To get a win I’m going to have to pitch a complete game shutout”.

A perfect example of this was his last start against the Florida Marlins. Johan K’ed 13 Marlins in 7 innings and didn’t allow an earned run and got the loss because of shotty defense by Daniel Murphy. Daniel Murphy dropped a ball that literally a third grader could have caught. You can’t place all the blame on Murphy, the Mets bats we’re silenced by the 6’ 7’’ Josh Johnson.

So going into today’s game against the Brew Crew the Ace of this staff is looking for another great game and hopefully Johan will get some run support.

Oh and to all that follow my posts the Mets are now a half game up on them kids from Philadelphia, but maybe we should worry about the Marlins more than the Phillies. Are they really 9-1?
