It May be a Long Year

Don’t Fred and Jeff Wilpon get tired of being ridiculed by every walking member of the baseball world? Don’t they realize that when they make the back pages for ineffectiveness that it’s not a good thing?

The acquisitions of Josh Fogg, Fernando Tatis, and their pursuit of John Smoltz make this off season even more comical. Tatis again, give me a break! He is 35 years-old and a double-play machine. Can someone please change the roster a little bit? I don’t even really need to comment on Josh Fogg because most fans didn’t even realize he was a living human being. John Smoltz haha. Can they find an older pitcher to place on the roster?

This week’s consistent bashing of the Mets’ front office is reminiscent of those laughable days in the mid-2000′s when chaos ensued and losses piled up. The same story where Jeff Wilpon won’t go away and the chain of command is in tatters. I know history repeats itself, but let’s get serious this is ridiculous. The Mets couldn’t beg free agents to come here and luring fans to Citi Field will be even more difficult.

Are the dark days back again? I’m not sure, but the forecast isn’t to bright.

No one with a No-Trade clause would waive it for this mess.

Since Tatis’s arrival on the Mets, the Mets have choked and had an epic collapse. I cannot explain why they kept him. Plus the way he wears his uniform and carries himself is lacking on both parts.

The problem with players from Latin America is they don’t care if they win the American World Series or not. They’ve already hit the lottery in their country by being paid as a MLB player, plus they have the Carribean World Series where they are representing their country – that trumps the American World Series in their eyes – and rightfully so.

Whereas American players – the pinnacle of the sport is to win the American World Series. I think we should have more American born players (be they white, black, hispanic) so they have hunger to win the World Series. Players from Latin America (see Beltran, Delgado, Castillo) don’t have a burning desire to win the World Seeries and that hurts our teams chances of winning.

  • Jerry Jerry says:

Lets hope that Murphy shows he can hit lefties and that he is the everyday First baseman. He should hit 26HRs. Then Tatis will stay on the bench and only be used in emergencies. I disagree that Latin born players dont want to go to the World Series. Some players are not team players and are self centered. That even goes for American Players.

If Murphy can hit 26 HRs, he may replace David Wright at 3b next year if David continues his decent. I agree with Jerry about Latin Players.

  • Andrew Andrew says:

If Murphy can hit 26 homers, that would probably be way more than any of us expected. The organization starting from the top has built an atmosphere of mediocrity and selfishness. It is not a latino, white, black, orange, blue, or purple problem. The wrong players are on the wrong team. Free agents see this mess and will continue to avoid it until it is resolved. Unfortunately it took Mike Piazza coming to Shea to turn around that mess and as of now I don’t see another Piazza type who can do the same.
