The Mets are going to need Pelfrey to cook up a nice outing in Baltimore.

The Mets are coming of a tough week filled with well played baseball. The Mets should have won 5 of the 6 games if the ball bounced in their direction but it didn’t and that’s baseball. This series against a mediocre Orioles team must be taken by the Mets.

A statement must be made in Baltimore and the Mets need to win at least two  games. It means nothing if the Mets play good baseball but come out with L’s instead of W’s. The Mets will be throwing out Mike Pelfrey in game 1 of this series and this is the man you want on the mound to set a little spark under this team. We saw Big Pelf’s fire when he got into a shouting match with Phillies second basemen Chase Utley.

One thing I’ve seen or haven’t seen from the Mets thus far is certain energy from an everyday player. Once Jose Reyes went down so did a lot of the energy we’re used to seeing on the field from the New York Metropolitans. Someone needs to step up to fill that void left behind by the ailing Reyes and it needs to be done fast so this team can play looser.
